I completely ignore the possibility that some of my clients are not artists and therefore are more easily impressed. Sometimes you can get away with less work and the client will not catch a mistake or a problem, but if you care about your own standards, you will always put your work through the harshest possible quality control. You'll do your best even if the client mistakes a work in progress update for a finished product and tells you that they are already happy with it.
But this painting was done for a fellow artist and that made it quite a challenge. This painting probably had more revision requests than any other I've done, by far, simply due to the client being both familiar with the standards, and details of the subject matter. The client had a perfectly defined vision for the character and it took me a while to perfectly portray that vision.
Did it get frustrating at times? Yes, of course, but not all frustration means that the client is asking too much or that you are failing. Some things just take time and effort, the client has the right to be 100% satisfied and you as a creator can only benefit from informed feedback.
